Terms of Service (Members)

Effective date: 18 January 2026

1. About Open Ears Members

Open Ears is an online platform that connects callers with members for real-time audio/video conversations. These Terms govern your use of the Open Ears members website and your participation as a member.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, complete the application/vetting process, and maintain accurate profile information. You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to you.

3. Your role: independent service provider

You acknowledge and agree that you are joining Open Ears as an independent service provider, not as an employee, agent, or representative of Open Ears. You are responsible for your own taxes, equipment, workspace, and compliance obligations.

4. Off-platform contact is prohibited

To protect safety and privacy, you agree that you will not attempt to contact callers (and will not allow contact to take place) outside of the Open Ears service. This includes requesting, sharing, or exchanging personal contact details such as phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, or messaging app usernames.

If a caller requests off-platform contact, you must refuse and report the behavior using the in-product reporting tools.

5. No recording

Open Ears does not record calls. You agree that you will not record, capture, stream, or otherwise reproduce any audio, video, or on-screen content from calls or from the platform, and you will not encourage others to do so.

6. Community standards

You must maintain a respectful, non-judgmental environment. Harassment, hate, sexual exploitation, threats, scams, and illegal activity are prohibited.

Code of conduct

The Open Ears community depends on safety and trust. In addition to the rules elsewhere in these Terms, you agree to:

  • Keep all communication on-platform and refuse any request to move contact off-platform.
  • Never record calls (audio/video/screen) and never request or encourage recordings.
  • Respect caller boundaries, including ending a call promptly if asked.
  • Never request or share personal contact details, payment details, or identifying information beyond what the platform permits.
  • Report safety issues promptly using the in-product reporting tools.

7. Not therapy; escalation

You are not providing medical, psychological, counseling, or crisis services unless you separately hold qualifications and are legally permitted to do so. If a caller indicates imminent self-harm or immediate danger, encourage them to contact emergency services in their location.

8. Payments and earnings

If you are eligible to earn from calls, rates, payouts, and related terms will be displayed in the product and may vary by program, country, and time. You are responsible for any taxes or fees due on amounts you receive.

9. Enforcement

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, including any attempt to move contact off-platform or any form of recording.

10. Contact
